meet The Team
Ged | Head Chef

"Owner/Chef"

‘The more I delved into the world of food, the more I became obsessed! My main goal is to bring restaurant standard food to weddings and larger events. I love the challenge and I love the results! I believe it’s an honour to be part of people’s events, particularly weddings, and I become personally invested in making sure we get it right. I am so proud of The Hog and Apple Food Co. team’

From a love of pigs and meat, Ged’s life-long passion for food has helped the self-taught chef develop the company from a pot and pan, to one of the most well regarded and reputable catering companies in Yorkshire. Passion, enthusiasm and vision push Ged to where nothing short of excellence is acceptable.

Chef Tony | Head Chef

"Head Chef"

‘I LOVE food! I always have! Whenever I think back to some important memory in my life it usually connects to a meal I’ve shared with someone important. Like on my 18th birthday my step mum took me out to ‘Anthony’s’ in Leeds for my first fine dining experience. From that day I was hooked on that style of catering and the true care that goes into not only the food but the service, which is something we replicate at The Hog and Apple Food Co. I’m passionate about cooking to the point of obsession - I never really turn off from it even when I’m sat at home watching ‘Game of Thrones’ I’m still thinking about my next big idea for what I can make out of yuzu (citrus fruit) or some other new ingredient I’m obsessing over. I love my job here at The Hog and Apple Food Co. simply because every weekend, or whenever your big day is, I’m going to be cooking for you on your most important day of your life. It’s a big job and an important one and I love it. I always try to make the food the talking point of the day (apart from the dress of course!).

Anyway I’m sure you’ve probably had enough of me gibbering on about myself so I’ll let you carry on looking through the important stuff like the menus and the awesome pictures of some of my creations!’

Josh | Chef

"Chef"

Cooking has always been Josh’s life. Having trained at Michelin standard in Jersey, Josh was part of a team who has cooked for The Queen and has always had a passion for banqueting and large events. It is this sort of expertise and knowledge that gives us the ability to offer the client dishes they would only expect in the best restaurants.

Robbie | The Machine

"The Machine"

Everyone needs a ‘Robbie’. He’s the glue that holds the company together. From loading, fixing, lifting, arranging and cooking - Robbie is the unsung hero of the team. Super friendly, super helpful; he’s what we are all about.

Invaluable!

Molly | The female version of Robbie

"The female version of Robbie"

Whatever needs doing, Molly can put her mind to it and get the job done with a smile on her face. An old head on young shoulders, she’s calm, confident, versatile and there’s basically nothing she can’t do!

Ange and Douge | The partnership

"The Partnership"

Ange and Doug are married and have spent their entire working lives in kitchens, restaurants and hotels. For the past three years, they have helped build The Hog and Apple Food Co. into the company it is today.

Doug has 15 years front of house experience in hotels and restaurants. Nothing is too much trouble, he’s your go to man at your event and is the person responsible for making the service of your food and drink a success. An outstanding front of house and true professional.

And don’t be deceived by Angela’s height! She is a heavy weight in the culinary world with her focus being on pastry and desserts. Her creations take it to the next level in outside catering but it doesn’t stop there, she also runs her own team on your big day from behind the scenes. Ange cooks your food on site and delivers you your wedding food to the highest possible standards.

Jack | The lad

"The Lad"

Jack is a key member of the team and the daily running of the business. He also looks after the drinks and bar aspect of the company and is well trained in cocktail making. He is a man with many ideas, a sociable personality and a cheeky glint in his eye!

The Team

“Hannah, Dom, Tom, Anna, Sinead, Emily, Sarah”

Staff come, staff go. Not at The Hog and Apple Food Co. We have had a core team of loyal staff who have been with us since the beginning. They all have the same vision and goals and their own passion for events. Although we are not all our staffs’ primary employment, they are committed and understand that when the big day comes, they turn it on with their unique and professional service style and friendly, helpful nature. In developing a wider team, the core team train new staff in The Hog and Apple Food Co. way and help them understand the company ethos.

Our Food Journey

Talking about quality, local, seasonal produce is easy, but we live and breathe it. So let us show you that we mean business.

Yorkshire’s finest rare breed meat producer. All our primary meat products originate from Charles and his amazing farm in Sutton, under white stone cliffs. All animals are free range and cattle are all grass fed. With a similar vison and ethos to us, they have helped build our reputation through their outstanding products.

Hogs, pork shoulder (pulled pork for all our street food style dishes), pork fillet, pork bellies, cheeks, hocks, loins, gourmet sausages (for our Hot dogs).

Chateaubriand, fillet, beef brisket, sirloin and rump joints, short ribs and steaks.

Lamb shoulder, racks, rumps, full lambs, joints.

We also love to use our two favourite York based butchers; M&K for chicken and duck, predominantly from their own farm, and Wilsons butchers for their award winning pork pies.

One of the best fruit and veg suppliers in our region with growers all over Yorkshire supplying the absolute best fresh, seasonal produce.

Known as the ‘Cheese Champion’, based in the heart of Yorkshire, Michael supplies us with an amazing selection of Cheese and Charcuterie including a whole Yorkshire range of both that often features on our menus.

Local to us and fish/seafood sourced direct from Whitby every morning. Another great local company right on our doorstep.

Based in the Thorpe Arch Estate, Wetherby, Grey’s Fine Foods was an exciting find for us. They supply the most impressive selection of traditional Spanish foods and wines. With authentic ingredients and produce, they are our ‘go to’ suppliers for all of our Spanish charcuterie and tapas style products.

We are proud to be able to offer an amazing selection of wine and drinks from one of Yorkshire’s finest independent suppliers.

Local to us in York, Field and Fawcett supply some of the country’s best restaurants and through our great relationship with Peter, the owner, we have a carefully selected drinks menu that complement our menus.
